HSE-approved First Aid at Work

If you have identified that first-aiders are needed in your workplace, they must have a valid certificate of competence in FAW.  FAW training includes EFAW and also equips the first-aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses.

The course covers:
  • contents of a First Aid kit
  • accident reporting 
  • how to treat an unconscious casualty
  • dealing with heart attacks
  • resuscitation (getting someone breathing again)
  • shock - how to recognise and treat it
  • choking
  • bleeding
  • burns and scalds
  • poisoning
  • seizures 
  • fractures (broken bones)
This is a  three-day course including three practical assessments. A two-day refresher course is also available.
